From the Art Series: Frozen, Photo-based  mixed media and resin on wood panel (2012)

This series explores the art of being emotionally stuck – frozen in thought, refusing to move past a memory, anchored in time. Whether it’s a cause of joy or heartache, this past action prevents forward movement. Here I sit frozen waiting on the spring thaw of emotion.

While researching on this topic I was part of some deep and moving discussions.

Someone very dear shared this letter. I feel compelled to pass its insights on:

“…Please understand that we all go thorough challenges in life. We just have to have faith and patience to deal with them. These challenges do not stay forever. Nothing in life is permanent – even life itself dies one day. The only time and place to enjoy life is the now or present. We cannot go back and change the past or do anything in the future. Anything in life we can do is today or now.

xox…”

Frozen the Art series, is about being emotionally stuck.

From the Art series: Wired! _Resin and Mixed Media on Wood Panel (2012)

Wired! is about almost fitting in, a personal exploration of wanting, then not wanting and then wanting more-than-ever to belong. This series explores my struggle with the various stages of social acceptance.

Why birds?

Birds have always fascinated AND scared the crap out of me. One on one I’m good – as a group its a completely different story.

Using birds to illustrate my struggle was an obvious choice. More than just as a metaphor to represent society, birds are nature’s ultimate clique, and could just as easily be seen as a metaphor for loneliness and fear of abandonment.

The Jitters: Last of the Red Hot Fools

The song title says it all – I wear it, own it, and OVER it! I believe that no one can punish us as we punish ourselves. With each passing day, my time spent in Limbo gets shorter and shorter.

Adele: Hometown

They say you can never go back home, this song brought me to the sweetest memories of what home means to me as I learn to carry these feelings while making room for new. The Fires of Limbo is about the strength possessed but not acknowledged.

While working on the series Fires of Limbo I was torn between being the author of my own discontent and of my own Book of Love.
